Indy’s Finest 2012 Head Coach:

Coach Denise Gritton McClanahan better kown as “Coach Mac” is a passionate, high energy coach who loves teaching the game of basketball. She is former varsity high school basketball coach with twenty three years of experience, coaching at both Southport High School and Franklin Central High School.
Her high school teams won five sectional championships and two Marion County Titles between 1988-2010. Over the past twenty-five years she has been busy coaching numerous statewide AAU teams for her own association Lady Mac, Indiana’s Finest and her current club- Indiana Elite. Her teams have played in many state title games capturing 4 AAU state championships, numerous top 16 National Championship finishes and one National Championship in 2002. Her 2002 Indiana Finest Blackcat’s team consisted of seven Big Ten players, Katie Geralds of the WNBA and Sharika Webb-Purdue University, Candace Dark-Ohio State University, Bridget Branson and Carrie Smith-Indiana University, Receina Russell and Suntana Granderson- Penn State. Through her AAU experiences she has coached many Indiana All-Stars and a variety of college bound players. She is also the owner and director of the largest girls’ Central Indiana’s high school and middle school summer leagues, the Lady Mac and Jr. Lady Mac Basketball League.
Coach Mac graduated from Perry Meridian High School where she was a three sport athlete who earned twelve varsity letters. Although she competed on the swimming, diving and track teams, basketball was always her favorite sport. She attended IUPUI where she competed as a full scholarship athlete in the sport of basketball. She earned a bachelor degree and a master degree in physical education. She has spent her entire teaching career in Perry Township and currently teaches 8th grade physical education and health for Southport Middle School. Coach Mac is married and she and her husband David have a beautiful daughter named Macy.
